TRICOLOUR PÉCKVILLCHEN OF THE NOSPELT SYNDICATE INITIATIVE
The faces behind the product
USCH BIVER
It was during his childhood in Nospelt, the cradle of Luxembourg pottery, that Usch Biver discovered the pleasure of modelling clay. While his classmates were tinkering with cardboard, he was already sculpting objects in clay, fascinated by this material. From the age of 23, every day when he came home from work, he returned to his potter’s wheel, a familiar and soothing refuge. Even today, he delicately carries on the art of Péckvillercher, these little whistles in the shape of birds, true symbols of Nospelt. Through them, he transmits a simple and sincere know-how, born from the land and tradition.
The product and its values
TRICOLOUR PÉCKVILLCHEN OF THE NOSPELT SYNDICATE INITIATIVE
This series of Péckvillercher was entirely handcrafted by Usch Biver with clay from Nospelt. Coming from the depths of the soil, this clay contains within it traces of the past: fine particles of iron oxide. It’s a subtle legacy of the country’s steelmaking history, revealing a rusty, almost coppery hue when fired—a unique signature of the land. This natural colour then disappears under the brush of the artist, who carefully deposits varied shades on each Péckvillchen before applying a glaze.
