HAND SANITISER BY DIFRULUX
The faces behind the product
GÉRARD LEUCHTER, ROMAIN & LOUIS HAAS
The sweet smell of fruit floats through the Difrulux distillery in Breidweiler, in the heart of the countryside and the Müllerthal. Bottles of all shapes and sizes are lined up on the shelves: apple, pear, mirabelle, raspberry and plum brandies are produced here, as well as liqueurs and gins of all kinds. Distillation? Gérard Leuchter knows how to do it. The trade has been in his family for generations. It was therefore out of the question that a pandemic would cause the brand, renowned for its expertise and wide range of spirits, to falter. To avoid dismissing his staff and keep the shop running, the entrepreneur decided to seize the opportunity and use his stock of pure alcohol to produce disinfectant. Thus, no less than 100,000 litres of hand sanitiser solutions were supplied by the distillery to the country’s inhabitants and institutions. The disinfectants, bearing the signature of Luxembourg, are marketed by the company of Romain and Louis Haas
The product and its values
AN ATYPICAL SOLUTION
Since the pandemic, Gérard Leuchter has been producing disinfectant liquid in addition to his traditional and renowned brandies. Made in Luxembourg, in a distillery nestled in the Müllerthal, this hand sanitiser available in sprays, bottles or cans stamped with a label in the country’s colours, enabled the company to sell its stock of pure alcohol and, above all, to give work to all its staff during the pandemic.
