Born in a small village in Poland, Kamil was lucky enough to have a grandfather who was a painter, musician, and lover of art in all its forms. It was through this influence that the very young Kamil very quickly found himself with pencils in his hands. His imagination and talent did the rest! After attending the Lycée des Arts et Métiers in Luxembourg and the University of Trier to acquire the essential techniques, and three years’ experience in a graphic design studio familiarising himself with the demands of companies, Kamil set up his own business. Thanks to word-of-mouth, orders quickly started coming in. Everything inspires him: films, video games, as well as stories and encounters. Sometimes it’s even the first stroke – the hardest to initiate – that inspires the ones that follow. Passionate about typography, he’s creating a world of powerful colours and simple, modern lines. But whether he’s using paper and pencil, a tablet or a computer, Kamil likes to compose images peppered with little details that no-one sees at first glance. Then it’s up to the viewer to imagine the stories!

With this illustration, Kamil wanted to show how Luxembourg has reinvented itself, from a rural country to a progressive society and a country at the cutting edge of innovation. And if the country has been able to develop in this way, spanning the cultivation of fields to sending satellites into space, high-tech and financial engineering, it’s also because it hasn’t forgotten its roots. I If you look closely at Kamil’s design, the essential point is the seed – the memory and origin from which the whole evolution of the Grand Duchy has sprung.
